Arizona monsoon thunderstorms to bring in potential hail, strong winds, and localized flooding

According to the Arizona Weatherman, on Monday, 24 Jun 2024, monsoon thunderstorms continue to impact the state. Expect isolated thunderstorms on the Mogollon Rim in the afternoon and more severe potential for strong winds, hail, and heavy rain for the southern portion of Arizona.

The model data indicates more severe weather potential for Santa Cruz, Cochise, Eastern Pima, Graham, and Southern Pinal counties in the afternoon to early evening. The skew-t data indicates more instability with CAPEs in the 2,500 to 3,000 range, LI indices -6 to -7, and DCAPE around 1,100 with hail indicators. Therefore, the Arizona Weatherman is forecasting potential convective gusts >60 mph, up to 1 inch of hail, and localized flooding with .75” to 1.5” inches of rain possible.
