After a two week hiatus in events due to rain, Arlington Raceway managed to get an event in even though an inch and a half of rain fell the night before, making for some wet sloppy conditions.
Drivers were eager to get back to the track and compete. Bode Collision & Glass and K&R Towing put up an extra $100 to each feature winner so every feature was intense. Brenna Braunworth started in the second row of the Jerry’s Home Quality Foods Auto Cross feature and by the first time around the track she was leading the race and that’s where she finished, picking up her first feature win of the year. Brian Krueger passed Emily McConnell on the third lap and she followed his to the checkered flag to take third place.
A yellow flag came out on the second lap of the eXmark Outlaw Hobby race when the 17R of Luke Rohde spun in turn No. 2 and the 11t of Tyler Manthey got collected in it. Both cars were later out of the race. Daniel Eckblad was able to get around Garett Uecker on the restart as Uecker tried to hold onto second place, but on lap 13 he pulled into the pit area with engine troubles. Mark Oestreich, who had been running in fifth, was able to move forward on the restart and took over the second spot but wasn’t able to catch Eckblad as he took the checkered flag ahead of Oestreich. Pat Schauer had a great run as he was able to maintain his starting position of third place to finish third ahead of Fred Heidecker.
The EX Wash & Storage Truck Cross saw 21 trucks sign in. Brian Krueger was driving double duty as he began on the front row but was only able to hold on to the lead for four laps as Aric Rolf, who had started in the fourth row, was moving quickly. He encountered lapped traffic and was able to gain distance on the 851 of Josh Compton. In the end, Rolf led the last four laps to win the race while Compton took second and Krueger took third.
The Jack Pines Resort saw two different leaders. Jonathan Schroeder was the early leader but a yellow was thrown for the 24 car of Mac Tollefson on lap seven when he lost a tire and landed in the infield pond area. The following lap, after the restart, Schroeder had troubles which sent him to the work area and later the pit ending his night. That gave both Brett McConnell and Cory Probst an opportunity to gain positions on the restart. McConnell had the edge but he too ended up in the pit while Probst went on to lead the remainder of the race and win. Jordan Robinson had a great run as he moved through traffic and had a solid second place ahead of Tayte Harazin.
The Coors Light IMCA Sport Compact feature saw Emily Christensen take the lead but she wasn’t able to hold off hard runner Dale Gatton as he had the top spot by the second lap. Alan Lahr had moved up five spots to battle with him but he had to settle for second ahead of Justin Dose.
The Rice Companies IMCA RaceSaver Sprints saw a mishap on the first lap when the cars of 9A Hunter Hansen and 1300 got tangled up at the drop of green flag. Hansen’s car sustained damage and was unable to return. At the restart, Chris Graff took off like a rocket and let the race with Andrew Allen in second. Trevor Serbus, who had started ninth, moved fast as he wanted the top spot. Soon the cars were racing in lapped traffic. With only two laps to go, a car pushed the infield tire on the track and Allen got the bad end of it as he damaged his axle and went into the pit. On the restart, Graf once again took the lead and went onto win his first feature of the year with Serbus in second and Serbus taking second and Michael Stien in 3rd ahead of Brandon Buysse.
The Arlington State Bank IMCA Northern Sport Modified feature saw mayhem throughout the race. Bryan Spaude had troubles as they were going to take the first green flag as his car stalled on the parade lap and he ended up in the pit. Joey Reimers led the first lap with Chris Neisen taking over the lead the following but Reimers gained it back the following lap and remained the leader for half of the race until Matt Looft was upon him. A yellow flag occurred with two laps to go when Jeff Looft spun out in turn No. 2. On the restart, Looft was able to hold onto his position but both Eric Larson and Zac Davis got around him on the white flag lap. Reimers was able to hold on for fourth place.
Twenty one B&B Racing Chassis Stock Cars started the feature race but seven cars unfortunately were not able to finish the race. Brent Uecker was the early leader from his front row start, by lap five Dakota Robinson who had started along side of him was able to get the edge on him and pass him. Soon Dan Mackenthun was in the mix. Half way through the race, Matt Speckman was on the move and took the right side of the track as he passed both Robinson and Mackenthun to take over the race. Two laps later Robinson left the track with troubles. Speckman and Mackenthun raced around lapped traffic for the last four laps to gain distance but it was Speckman who took the checkered flag first. Uecker held on for third place.
The Ottomotive Tire and Repair feature saw a flawless race as Chad Porter took the lead on the first lap and remained the leader for the duration to win his 2nd feature of the year. Trent Loverude was right behind him but on lap 12 he had troubles and drove into the pit area. Porter was able to distance himself as he got around lapped traffic. The last four laps Todd Stinehart tried to close the gap between him and Porter but couldn’t get it done and took second ahead of Dan Menk.
