Armstrong baseball Falcons fell short of victory in three games last week, each was a matchup that came down to a few bats.

Armstrong opened last week with an 8-6 conference loss to Osseo on May 14. It was Osseo’s sixth win in their last 10 games, coming amid an impressive season that has seen the Orioles compete for the Northwest Suburban Conference’s top spots. AJ Kuebelbeck had two doubles, two RBI and two runs against the Orioles. Jack Welters also stacked up stats, hitting a double and an RBI while scoring one run.

The Falcons took part in another close NWSC battle on May 16, hosting Maple Grove in a 6-4 loss. Dayton Franke starred with a two-RBI triple, while Luke Weisjahn had two hits and two runs. Franke also pitched four innings, earning four kills.

The Falcons faced Buffalo on May 18, losing a blockbuster 10-6 game to conclude a hard-fought week of baseball. Ray Welters, Will Hoffrogge, and Gideon Breker all pitched. Welter had five strikeouts, two for Hoffrogge, and one for Breker. Will Schultz and Weisjahn earned one RBI each, while Jake Goerts scored a run and had two hits.

Armstrong baseball will play two games the following week to close out the 2024 regular season, hosting Park Center/Columbia Heights/Maranatha Academy on May 20 (after this edition went to press), before traveling to Minneapolis Southwest on Tuesday, May 21.
