Three injured in Scarborough crash
SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Three people were injured in a crash in Scarborough on Tuesday. It happened in the area of 162 Route 1, near the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store. Three vehicles were involved in the crash. Two people were in one of the vehicles, and one person was in each of the other vehicles, Scarborough police told NEWS CENTER Maine.

Maine trooper in cruiser rear-ended, injured at traffic stop, strikes vehicle he pulled over
BIDDEFORD, Maine (AP) — A Maine state trooper in his cruiser at a highway traffic stop was injured when he was rear-ended by another vehicle, causing him to spin around and strike the one he had pulled over, authorities said. Trooper Patrick Flanagan and the other two drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries Saturday night, the Maine State Police said in a news release. Flanagan’s emergency lights were activated on the southbound Maine Turnpike in Biddeford when his cruiser was struck, police said. Flanagan and the 25-year-old driver of the vehicle that struck his were taken to hospitals. The driver was issued a summons.

SANDWICH — A recently-licensed motorcyclist from Maine died Friday after an afternoon crash, according to police. Deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office responded to calls for service around 3:20 p.m. on July 19, after a motorcycle rider apparently collided with a utility trailer pulled behind a pickup truck in the area of the intersection of Route 113 and Route 113A, Sheriff Domenic Richardi wrote in a statement.
Vandalism incident at Scarborough beach leads to investigation
SCARBOROUGH, Maine — Police in Scarborough along with the Maine Warden Service are investigating a vandalism incident at Higgins Beach that took place last week. The Scarborough Police Department said in a statement on social media that on July 17, signs were pulled out of the ground and damaged, and fencing that marked endangered shorebird areas was removed. Evidence of campfires on the beach was also discovered, police said.
