Work on upcoming MSSU addition causes detours on campus

Dirt work is underway to add a new building on the MSSU Oval and this week that included taking out a chunk of University Parkway. Hammons Added to Pitt State Softball 2025 Roster
PITTSBURG – Pittsburg State University head softball coach Jenny Fuller announced that utility player, Reagan Hammons will join the Gorillas for the 2025 season. Hammons, a Tahlequah, Okla., native has played at Ottawa University for the past two seasons setting the school home run during her time as a Brave. For her career at Ottawa she appeared in 76 games (61 starts), with a .286/.568/.350 slash line for 15 home runs and 58 RBI. Last spring she was a first-team All-KCAC performer as a utility player while setting program records for home runs (14) and RBI (58).
Bystanders Rescue Kayaker from Drowning
A Missouri man is saved from drowning by a group of bystanders. 72-year-old Thomas Forehand of Joplin was kayaking on the James River just north of Galena, MO, on Saturday afternoon when his kayak flipped, causing him to fall overboard. Forehand then became pinned under a log. Four nearby men – identified as Dakota Bilyeu, Bobby Taylor, Justin DeAtley and Jimmy DeAtley – noticed the man was in distress and went into the water after him. Witnesses say the four worked to pull Forehand from the water and carried him to safety on the beach. Reports indicate Forehand was not breathing but was revived by first aid efforts. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released. Forehand was able to attend his family reunion the next day.

Mo. DNR awards $50K to Delta for wastewater system improvements
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KFVS) - The City of Delta was awarded a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to evaluate the city’s wastewater system. The grant, which totals $50,000, is part of the DNR’s Clean Water Engineering Report Grant program, according to a release. This program offers funding to small communities for wastewater engineering costs incurred in preparation of a facility plan report.
