Planned music venue on Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti receives EGLE clean-up grant
A proposed artist and musical venue in Ypsilanti is closer to reality thanks to a brownfield grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. The proposed venue on the site of the old Materials Unlimited antiques store has been awarded an over-$477,000 EGLE grant. Detroit judge dismisses case against alleged Beavis graffiti artist
A man accused of being a Detroit-area graffiti artist has beaten the charges against him. A judge on Thursday dismissed six felony counts of malicious destruction of property against Bryan Herrin, of Hazel Park, who Wayne County prosecutors alleged was responsible for spraying faces of the character from “Beavis and Butt-Head” throughout Detroit. Allen Park takes first steps toward $8.5 million fire station renovations
The Allen Park City Council will soon be considering an $8.5 million project to renovate the fire station and implement a new millage. The city’s current fire station opened in 1969. City Administrator Mark Kibby said there are structural issues, foundation issues, plumbing and electrical issues and a complete lack of technology in the station. Most of all, though, he said there is currently not a locker room facility for the city’s female firefighter.
