A stabbing at West Henderson High School Sept. 5 resulted in a student being taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials say.

At 3:05 pm, the West Henderson High School Resource Officer reported an incident involving two students to the 911 Center, according to a news release from Kimbrell Arrowood, Henderson County schools spokesperson.

During the altercation, one of the individuals sustained a stab wound and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the release said. The other individual involved was taken into custody by the school resource officer.

"At this time, there is no ongoing threat to the school and public. Due to the involvement of minors and to protect the integrity of the investigation, no further details are being released," the release said.

"As always, HCPS is extremely grateful for the quick, caring response of our staff, local law enforcement, and first responders in caring for our students."

HCSO Spokesperson Johnny Duncan confirmed there was an active investigation.
