Sections of Forest Road 187/Mineral Lake Road in Ashland County closed

Sections of Forest Road 187/Mineral Lake Road in Ashland County will be closed to all traffic until October 22 for reconstruction and culvert replacement.

FR 187/Mineral Lake Rd will be closed between 1.1 miles north of Ashland Bayfield Rd and 2 miles south of Vista Rd and also closed between FR 189 (Spring Brook Rd) and FR 1297 (Lake Three access). These sections of road are located in the Great Divide Ranger District of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

The detour route from the north starts at the intersection of FR187/Mineral Lake Rd and Vista Rd west to Feeney Rd continuing west to FR 199/Ashland Bayfield Rd south and east to FR187/Mineral Lake Rd and south to Spring Brook Rd. FR 187/Mineral Lake Rd will also be closed between FR 189 (Spring Brook Rd) and FR 1297 (Lake Three access). The Lake Three public boat launch will only be accessible from the south on FR 187/Mineral Lake Rd.

A map of the restricted area is provided for clarity. USDA Forest Service Motor Vehicle Use Maps are available online for visitors to reference to identify alternative routes. The maps are located online here: www.fs.usda.gov/main/cnnf/maps-pubs. While the section of road is temporarily closed, USDA Forest Service officials encourage travelers to bring along a paper map or other navigational resource, and plan for extra time that might be needed.
