    ACC Animal Shelter desperately needs community help as the shelter reaches capacity

    Ready to pick up a dog today? Athens -Clarke County Animal Services "desperately" need fosters as the shelter reaching extreme overcapacity.

    Currently, 13 dogs are beings housed in crates. The shelter is urgently seeking foster homes to alleviate the overcrowding and provide better care for the animals.

    What is a foster?

    By fostering , people are providing a temporary home to an animal. Fostering a dog from ACC Animal Services is a straight-forward and cost free process.

    The shelter provides all necessary items to ensure that foster families have everything for their new companion, including:

    • Food
    • Crate
    • Leash

    How to become a foster

    Those interested in fostering should fill out the online application . After completion, contact the foster coordinator, Tiffany Mitcham, to schedule a pickup time. Mitcham can be reached by text (762-400-2127) or email ( animalservicesfoster@accgov.com ).

    Lastly, dogs are available for pickup Friday, August 23, at 125 Buddy Christian Way.
