Forbes released its list of top 500 universities. Here's where UGA, other Georgia colleges land

Forbes' released its annual list of America's top colleges, highlighting 500 institutions based on academic excellence and low student debt.

It's rankings were based on 14 different metrics to evaluate 500 colleges from across the U.S., including alumni salary, debt, graduation rate, return on investment, median 10-year salary and more.

At the top of the list were the usual suspects, including Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Yale and UC-Berkeley as the top five.

Columbia, U of Penn, Harvard, Rice and Cornell rounded out the top 10.

Georgia produced 10 higher education institutions inside the list, including three inside the top 65. Here's where the University of Georgia and others around the state landed.

Emory University

Leading Georgia on the list is Emory University , a private school in Atlanta ranking No. 33. Here are some more details:

The Georgia Institute of Technology
