The day is here for Bushnell (Fla.) South Sumter four-star safety Rashad Johnson. The No. 361 overall prospect in the 2025 On3 Industry Rankings is set to announce his commitment on Sunday.

Johnson is down to four schools: Georgia, Louisville, Penn State and Texas A&M.

Johnson took official visits to all four programs this summer. The four-star safety added the offer Georgia right before the summer picked up after working at camp.

The Bulldogs have three defensive back prospects committed in the class of 2025. Four-stars Shamari Earls, Todd Robinson and Jaylan Morgan are all pledged to the Bulldogs already.

The who, when and where of Rashad Johnson’s decision

Finalist: Georgia, Louisville, Penn State, Texas A&M

What has he said about Georgia?

Johnson got on Georgia’s radar later in the process. The Bulldogs got an official visit from Johnson and they made a huge impression during that visit.

Johnson spoke highly of his relationship with Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson. Robinson offered Johnson while he was at Alabama.

“Me and T-Rob have always had that connection,” Johnson said. “When he went to Georgia, they didn’t offer and I was really getting recruited by Georgia until the last two weeks.”

He also commented on Kirby Smart’s involvement in his players’ lives.

“I like the way coach Kirby Smart is very involved with his players,” Johnson told DawgsHQ. “You can’t find a lot of head coaches around interacting with the recruits. You go to other schools, you rarely see their head coach.”

    The big picture for Georgia

The Bulldogs have three defensive backs committed already. The current roster is full of new talent set to try and make an impression in 2024.

The mainstays of recent success have come and gone. Names like Javon Bullard, Tykee Smith, Chris Smith, Kelee Ringo and Kamari Lassiter have come and gone.

Georgia is working to restock the group to have continuous success in the secondary after the next crop comes through.

Johnson could be a key addition as someone who could become a key piece and fan-favorite due to his infectious personality in the coming years.
