The Georgia Bulldogs have been the dominant college football program in the SEC since 2020. The Bulldogs claimed the national championship in 2021 and 2022.

In 2023, Georgia was widely regarded as the top team until it lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC championship, which prevented it from making the playoffs. During the offseason, the SEC welcomed two new powerhouse teams, the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners.

Texas is coming off a College Football Playoff berth, so many wonder if the Longhorns can contend for the best team in the conference. On ESPN's "Get Up ," Paul Finebaum said despite the addition of Texas, he believes Georgia is still the team to beat in the conference.

"Absolutely," Finebaum said. "They have possibly the best quarterback in the country in Carson Beck. They are what Alabama was about five or six years ago. Cliche, reload, whatever you want, they have it. Because they have recruited at such a high level and Kirby Smart in his late 40s is Nick Saban in the absolute prime of his career."

Finebaum believes Georgia's challenging schedule, including trips to Alabama and Texas for tough conference games, could hinder the team's season. Finebaum doesn't think the Bulldogs have much room for error, but thinks the new era of college football should help them with the addition of eight teams to the playoff.

Ultimately, Finebaum thinks the Bulldogs will again be in the thick of the College Football Playoff race at the end of the season.
