Paul Finebaum Names Surprising Team That Could Upset Georgia This Season

The Georgia Bulldogs are once again the favorites, not only in the SEC but also in the country. They have won two of the last three national championships. If Georgia hadn't been upset in the SEC Championship Game last season, the Bulldogs would have been poised to three-peat.

However, the Bulldogs are now in a new-look SEC. There are no longer divisions, and the conference has added the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. Georgia is scheduled to play against the highly-ranked Longhorns and Alabama Crimson Tide this season.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum mentioned that while much attention is being given to those two games, it's the game against the Ole Miss Rebels at the end of the season that could catch the Bulldogs off guard and lead to an upset.

"Ole Miss is a dangerous game," Finebaum said. "Everyone is talking about Texas and Alabama but Ole Miss later in the year, to me, they have a chance to be outstanding."

The Bulldogs haven't lost a regular-season game since the COVID-shortened 2020 season in which it lost two regular-season games. The Bulldogs lost to Alabama and Florida that season.

Since then, they have won 39 straight regular-season games. However, this season will be challenging. The Bulldogs will play against five teams projected to be ranked when the preseason rankings are released. This includes two teams that could potentially be among the top five teams in the country.

It would be a major accomplishment if the Bulldogs manage to go undefeated throughout the regular season once again.
