'I Know Who I'd Pick!' Draymond Green Weighs In On France's Lineup Changes

Draymond Green does not like Rudy Gobert. That much was made clear last season when Green put Gobert in a headlock and choked him out, resulting in (another) suspension. Draymond Green also has a well-known podcast where he voices his numerous opinions to a large audience.

When France's head coach Vincent Collet opted to only play Rudy Gobert for three minutes in their victory over Canada on Tuesday, Green was giddy, as it gave him a chance to throw some shade at the French center.

Gobert, and French teammate Evan Fournier, claimed that Gobert was recovering from finger surgery and was not healthy enough to play extended minutes. Collet rebuffed that, saying he was looking at the matchups when he decided to have Gobert come off the bench.

While Gobert only played three minutes, San Antonio Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama played 27, although he did not have an elite game by any means. Still, his versatility kept him in the game, sending a strong message that he is the best player on the team, not the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year.

"To be taken out of the lineup on any other team in the Olympics as an NBA player, not named Team USA, is kind of crazy," said Green. "France had a very interesting plot twist going on. Big Rudy Gobert claimed he had surgery on his finger or something, France's coach said he thought the matchups were an issue...we don't know what's true!"

Gobert, as Green eagerly points out, allowed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to get hot before heading to the bench for the rest of the game, whereas Wembanyama was a defensive threat all night, forcing Collet to keep him in the game despite his lackluster offensive production.

"You decide who's got to go," finished Green. "I know who I'd pick," clearly alluding to the growing, if not common, belief that Wembanyama is better on both ends of the court than his veteran teammate.
