Cubs Go for Series Win Against Twins

After starting off dull to begin the past two series, the Chicago Cubs are once again in position to win the series at Wrigley Field against the Minnesota Twins.

Wednesday, August 7th: Javier Assad vs. Joe Ryan

The Cubs will go with Javier Assad (5-3, 3.19 ERA) to snag the series win against the Twins. Assad is coming off a short performance the last time out against the St. Louis Cardinals. He only went four innings after allowing two runs and three walks. He will look to have a more extended stay on the hill on Wednesday afternoon.

As for the Twins, Joe Ryan (7-7. 3.59 ERA) will get the call for the Rubber Match. Ryan is coming off two quality starts and will look for his 14th of the season against the Cubs. In his last outing against the White Sox, Ryan got the win after allowing only two runs across 6.1 innings of work. He struck out seven batters and walked three in the start.
