ESPN Makes Major Announcement For Upcoming College Football Season

There are a lot of "new" things that will be taking place in this upcoming college football season.

Programs all over the country will be rocking new conference patches on their jersey as we will see a total of 12 Power 4 (formerly Power 5) programs in a new conference. Texas and Oklahoma will be joining the SEC, which only gives the biggest brand in the sport two more massive brands. The Big Ten was able to poach USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington from the Pac-12, while the Big 12 was able to add Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah. The ACC got in on the fun as well as they added both Stanford and Cal from the Pac-12, while also adding SMU from the American.

On top of all of the conference realignment changes, the College Football Playoff will look insurmountably different as it is going from just four teams to 12. On top of expanding, there are now five automatic bids as the four conference champions of the Power 4 get an automatic bid, and the top Group of Five teams gets one as well.

So with all of these changes taking place, it is only fitting that the theme song of college football highlights just how exciting this upcoming season will be. ESPN officially announced the 2024 anthem of college football on Thursday, choosing Jelly Roll's "Get By" to be the sound of college football.

For those not familiar with Jelly Roll, the country singer based out of Tennessee is a two-time Grammy-nominated artist. He also won three CMT awards in 2023 and one Country Music Association Award in 2023 as well.

As for college football, the season officially starts on August 24.
