Former Pro Bowler Makes Gutsy Prediction for Colts RB Jonathan Taylor

As the third-leading rusher in NFL history, Frank Gore has seen it all.

During his 16-year career, Gore witnessed three 2,000-yard rushers — Chris Johnson in 2009 (2,006 yards), Adrian Peterson in 2012 (2,097 yards) and Derrick Henry in 2020 (2,027 yards) — and he’s confident there could be another one in 2024: Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor.

“Training with [Taylor], you could see it — he's got even better,” Gore told ESPN . “JT is built different, man. If he stays healthy, I won't be surprised if he gets 2,000 [yards]. With his ability and with the way he moves, it's crazy. I already knew he was fast. But what I like is how he moves in small spaces, man. I didn't think he had that.”

It’s not crazy to think Taylor could join the 2,000-yard club. After all, he came really close back in 2021 when he rushed for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns. That was also the only time in his four-year career that Taylor had played a full season, which has been the biggest knock against the former NFL rushing champ.

Taylor has missed 14 games since his rookie season, the bulk of which has come in the last two seasons. An injured ankle limited Taylor to just 11 games in 2022, and he missed the first four games of 2023 while recovering from ankle surgery.

But with Taylor fully healthy heading into 2024, few would be surprised if he regained his 2021 form and made a run at a 2,000-yard season.
