The 2024 college football season is right around the corner, and Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt recently revealed his preseason Top 25 on the Joel Klatt Show . On the heels of a 12-2 season, Klatt has Texas ranked as the third-best team in the country, behind only Ohio State and Georgia.

Klatt praised head coach Steve Sarkisian, saying he has "built a top-tier, upper-echelon team regardless of conference." In a news conference, Klatt expressed no doubts about the team's ability to compete in the SEC as they prepare for their first season.

The one concern that Klatt raised about the Longhorns is a defensive line that lost top players Byron Murphy II and T'Vondre Sweat to the NFL Draft. He believes that defensive front will be "tested early when they travel to Ann Arbor" to face Michigan, who is expected to once again have one of the best rushing offenses in the country.

The Longhorns' season begins on August 31 as Texas hosts Colorado State. SEC play begins in Austin on September 28 with a home game against Mississippi State.
