Colts RB Jonathan Taylor Gushes About Meeting NFL Legend Frank Gore

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is in great shape heading to the season.

The former All-Pro First Team selection touted his optimal conditioning entering his fifth campaign. Taylor, along with sophomore quarterback Anthony Richardson, is expected to be a central cog in the Colts' offense.

Aside from his health, Taylor credited his workouts with NFL legend Frank Gore for his renewed energy and optimism. Gore, third in the NFL all-time rushing list, hosted a group of young quarterbacks in South Carolina during the offseason.

"Frank was doing the same things that we were doing: Sleds, running, sprints," Taylor said, as quoted by a report from ESPN . "But it wasn't (about) asking him about how he played and what he did. It was really just watching him in person. That was the coolest part."

The 25-year-old Taylor struggled with injuries over the last two seasons, missing 13 games. Gore, meanwhile, was one of the NFL's sturdiest stars, extending his career for 16 seasons.

Taylor saw up close how Gore took care of his body, and that resonated with him.

"A lot of times you speak to some of these all-time greats and they tell you what they did," Taylor said. "But being able to be there in person and actually see it, I'm like, 'OK, if you're doing this now, I can only imagine how you were working back then (as a player).'"

"It inspires you. You see what it takes to be great."

Taylor brought that same mindset to training camp, where he's been "phenomenal," according to Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter in the same report from ESPN.

In 10 games last season, Taylor tallied 169 carries for 741 yards and scored eight touchdowns.

The Colts will start their preseason schedule against the Denver Broncos on August 12.
