Steelers' Cam Hayward Slams Former Teammate

Earlier this offseason, Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen made comments raving about Pittsburgh. His former Baltimore Ravens teammate Arthur Mallet took shots at both Queen and the city of Pittsburgh.

All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward didn’t like that at all and came to Queen's defense on a recent episode of his “Not Just Football” podcast.

“I think Art is just mad that Pat left for the greener pasture,” said Heyward. “Pat had a heck of a comment to Marlon Humphrey talking about the green pasture. I think there are a lot more Baltimore Ravens that would like to be in this situation, rather than that situation.”

Queen is a tremendous upgrade for the Steelers defense. At just 24, the former LSU Tiger is coming off of a career year with 133 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and an interception.

The former first-round pick has gotten better every single year he's been in the league and made his first Pro Bowl a year ago. Pittsburgh got him via free agency in his prime and he is still ascending.

In this defensive scheme, Queen should thrive.

Heyward, who had a down year due to injuries last season, is back and 100-percent healthy. While he still hasn’t had his contract extended, he is in camp and ready to prove he is still a quality player.

His defense of Queen should signal to everyone that Heyward is invested and engaged with this team regardless of his contract situation.

Both are signs of a true leader.
