The Texas A&M Aggies have a quarterback who may just have one of the highest ceilings in the entire SEC .

While Conner Weigman has all the potential in the world, he has still started just eight games in his college career and what looked like it could be a huge season brewing in 2023 was cut short by a foot injury . As a result, Weigman enters 2024 as a high-ceiling starter who will still need to show it on the field in order to be seen as one of the best in the conference.

Steven Lassan of Athlon Sports ranked all the starting quarterbacks in the conference , and Weigman came in right in the middle of the pack at No. 8 behind Garrett Nussmeier of LSU and Nico Iamaleava of Tennessee , but ahead of Jackson Arnold of Oklahoma and Graham Mertz of Florida .

"Weigman was on track for a breakout 2023 season but a foot injury suffered against Auburn on Sept. 23 ended his year prematurely. After throwing five touchdowns in the opener against New Mexico, Weigman passed for 336 yards and two scores in a road defeat at Miami. He passed for 337 yards in an easy win for Texas A&M against ULM but was unable to build on that momentum after the injury against Auburn a week later," Lassan wrote . "Weigman has all of the tools to emerge as one of the top quarterbacks in the SEC. New coordinator Collin Klein should do a better job at maximizing Weigman and the talent of the supporting cast than former coach Jimbo Fisher managed to do in College Station."

By the sounds of it, if Weigman can stay healthy and produce at the level he has already shown to be capable of, he could be a lot higher on the list this time next year.
