The Boston Red Sox (61-52) are known for their superstar players. Manny Ramirez , David Ortiz , Mookie Betts , Dustin Pedroia , the list goes on and on. A superstar that they currently employ, however, is none other than Rafael Devers .

In a recent article from Bleacher Report , Joel Reuters ranked the top 10 players at each position for August. Leading the charge for third basemen is none other than Rafael Devers.

Here is what Reuters had to say about the superstar:

"With a career-high 167 OPS+ and 4.1 WAR in 98 games, Rafael Devers is having the best season of his career at the plate. The 27-year-old is hitting .305/.382/.607 with 28 doubles, 25 home runs, 70 RBI, and 73 runs scored, and he has shouldered much of the middle-of-the-order run production load with Triston Casas and Trevor Story injured."

Entering his prime now, his eighth Major League season, the league may need to be on high alert. Before the 2024 season, Devers was already named an All-Star twice, won two Silver Sluggers, and finished inside the top 20 for American League MVP voting four times. He's added a third All-Star nod to his resume this season, and the accolades are far from over.

Devers has been an integral part of the Red Sox offense in 2024. They enter Friday ranked first in team OPS on the season at .774, and have been even better in the second half at .895. While Devers was very good in the first half, he has been on fire in the second half.

Through 18 games, Devers has batted .343/.410/.603 with two home runs, nine RBI, and a 174 OPS+. The home run power has not been there as much in the second half as it was in the first, but he continues to tally hits and get on base at elevated clips.

Devers has easily been the best third baseman in MLB this season, not just right now. If he can continue to produce like he has, he will need to make more room on his mantle for some more hardware come season's end.
