Justin Fields Doesn't Hold Back In Assessment Of Steelers Debut

Justin Fields' Pittsburgh Steelers debut was quite polarizing, to say the least. Fields came in for a few drives, and he performed solidly. He displayed poise in the pocket, completing five of his six passes for 67 yards.

However, a few mistakes led to their drives ending prematurely. Fields and center Nate Herbig botched a couple of snaps under center. One of those botched snaps led to a loss of four yards. The Steelers quarterback also got sacked by Danielle Hunter in one of his drives.

Ultimately, most of the reviews of Fields' short stint with the Steelers seem to be positive. However, Fields was highly critical of the mistakes he made. The quarterback placed the blame on himself, saying that they shot themselves in the foot with those mistakes.

"We were just shooting ourselves in the foot," Fields said, according to Brooke Pryor . "Fumbled snap, I think all three phases, so we can definitely be better in that part."

"And I think the snapping part, we just got to be on the same page," Fields continued. "I'll put that on me to just be on the same page and know who's in that center or know how to adjust and what I need to do."

Fields was traded to the Steelers from the Chicago Bears this offseason. A former first-round pick, Fields' performance has been the subject of debate since his debut in the NFL.

In three seasons in the league, Fields has thrown for 6,694 yards with 40 touchdowns to 30 interceptions. On the ground, he's accumulated 2,220 rushing yards with 14 touchdowns. He's a polarizing player to analyze.

In Pittsburgh, Fields has a chance to learn under a great coach in Mike Tomlin and a veteran in Russell Wilson. Whether Fields gets a chance to play this season is a different question, but many are rooting for him to succeed.
