Packers vs Browns: 3 Players to Watch

    The preseason is here!

The Green Bay Packers will be in Cleveland to take on the Cleveland Browns in the preseason opener. The Packers will take the field for real in less than a month against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jordan Love and the Packers' starters are expected to play in some capacity, though how long is unclear.

Once he exits the game, the focus goes to the players this game really matters for. Reserve players and young guys trying to make an impression to win a job, or make the roster.

Here are three guys to keep an eye on after the ball is kicked.

    Sean Rhyan

What a miserable week this must have been for Rhyan. Rhyan has essentially lost out on starting reps to rookie Jordan Morgan for the last week of camp.

Morgan looked to be in line to be the starter at that spot if the season were to start tomorrow.

Unfortunately, Morgan went down with a shoulder injury that should keep him out for at least a week.

Rhyan was the next man up at guard, as he's in a competition with Morgan for that spot.

Instead, a mental error ended his day with the starting group before it could even begin.

Rhyan was charged with a false start on the first play of team, and replaced by rookie Jacob Monk.

Monk would remain in that spot for the duration of team periods, leading one to wonder where Rhyan even stands with the team at this point.

Rhyan has had a rocky start to his career. He's never been a full-time starter, only asked to rotate with Jon Runyan Jr a season ago.

That was coming off a disastrous rookie season that saw his season end prematurely with a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs.

Rhyan is in a tough spot at this point. He has probably lost a starting spot, and now looks to be competing for a job as the team's top reserve on the interior.

It will be interesting to see if Rhyan starts at guard with the first group with Morgan not expected to play.

    Evan Williams

Evan Williams is always around the ball.

He has made one play after another in training camp, and now will have a chance to showcase his skills in live action on Saturday.

As one of the team's reserves, there's a good chance that Williams will see a lot of snaps.

Some of those might come against Jameis Winston, a quarterback with a propensity to turn the ball over.

Sometimes a splash play is all it takes to win a job. Whether Williams has a path to be one of the starters at safety is unclear, but he could find himself in a role in some different subpackages if he continues to progress.

His ball skills and overall solid play can remind you of Adrian Amos. If the Packers can get Williams to be anything close to what Amos was for them, they'd have to be thrilled.

    Emanuel Wilson

There was not a bigger star for the Packers a season ago in the preseason than Emanuel Wilson.

That could be true for the entire NFL. Wilson led the preseason in rushing and found ways to make splash plays behind backup offensive linemen.

That was enough for him to make the roster over Patrick Taylor, who had been with the team for multiple years before being released.

Wilson faces an uphill battle to make the roster this year with Josh Jacobs, AJ Dillon, and third-round pick Marshawn Lloyd ahead of him, but long odds have never stopped him before.

Wilson was a long shot to make last year's roster, and he still did.

Wilson will likely get a good chunk of playing time after the first quarter and will have an opportunity to showcase those skills.

If he makes the most of them, he could at least start a conversation as to whether the Packers could keep four running backs on their initial 53-man roster.
