Following the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-12 loss to the Houston Texans, rookie tackle Troy Fautanu was seen in a brace on his left knee. The first-round tackle had a decent game in his first NFL experience.

He got beat badly by Texans edge rusher Danielle Hunter to give up a sack that ended a drive on third down on the second offensive series of the game, but that was the extent of his woes….or so we thought.

Fautanu in a knee brace would be more alarming if they Steelers had moved on from veteran Dan Moore this offseason.

Coach Mike Tomlin didn’t list Fautanu on his injury report following the game and reports are that it was just a “tweak” and nothing serious, however, seeing your first-round pick in a knee brace this soon into his career has to be alarming internally.

Fautanu may be held out of practices for a few days for evaluation on the knee before putting him back on the field. If it is something minor as was suggested, holding him out to be on the safe side is the smart play.

Tomlin did say that he would update everyone on all the injuries when the team returns to the practice field in Latrobe, PA on Sunday.
