Jayson Tatum has been a hot topic at the Paris Olympics due to his benching on Team USA.

Tatum's role with the U.S. has been erratic, from not appearing in the opener against Serbia, then playing in the next three games, to not stepping on the court again against the Serbs in the semifinals.

His lack of playing time has garnered a lot of attention from NBA fans, feeling that he is being underutilized on a team that he could easily make a strong impact. His parents feel the same way as well, thinking that it is disrespectful that their son is not getting the playing time he should get.

This prompted Paul George to discuss the topic on his Podcast P show with Trae Young. Young agrees with the idea of star players sacrificing minutes to give the U.S. an edge over their opponents, but George responded by saying Tatum can't be one of those players.

“You gotta sacrifice [for Team USA] to win these games,” Young said.

“But [Jayson Tatum] can’t be one of them,” George replied.

“I don’t understand that,” Young responded.

“How is JT the odd man out?” George remarked.

It's clear that the idea of Tatum's role being limited has stirred controversy since the team's opener. Despite being on a star-studded where garnering a lot of minutes wouldn't be expected, but Tatum getting the short end of the stick has caught many people by surprise. Even George himself.

Whether Tatum receives playing time in the gold medal game remains to be seen, but the U.S. will have a shot at glory when they face France Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
