Packers Running Back Suffers Preseason Injury

The Green Bay Packers came out with a 23-10 win in their preseason opener on Saturday against the Cleveland Browns, but it didn't come without its bumps and bruises.

Rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd suffered a hamstring injury , per Adam Schefter. He had one carry for eight yards and a catch versus Cleveland. Lloyd was the Packers' third-round pick out of USC in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The youngster is set for quite the battle to even get any touches in '24. Josh Jacobs is, of course, the starter, while AJ Dillon and Emanuel Wilson are competing with Lloyd for reps behind Jacobs.

Lloyd also sustained an injury before reporting to Green Bay training camp. It's unknown at this point just how serious the hamstring issue is, but head coach Matt LaFleur will likely provide an update.

The 23-year-old ran for 7.1 yards per carry last season for the Trojans. He was seen as a potential replacement for Aaron Jones, who signed with the Minnesota Vikings.
