The New York Mets Had Another Abysmal Offensive Performance Yesterday

The Mets once again looked lifeless on offense.

Logan Gilbert was in complete control as he dominated for seven innings. Gilbert was throwing his whole pitch repertoire. He was throwing whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. The Mets looked like they had absolutely no chance of hitting him.

Gilbert was pouring in strikes and the Mets had no answer. The right hander mixed in his slider and off speed pitches out of the zone and got hitters to consistently chase at them.

The game was identical to game one in the series. A Mets starter gave up early runs, and the offense never looked like coming back.

Sean Manaea was on such a good run. His success ran out right away in Seattle. He was ambushed by back to back leadoff doubles to start the game. Justin Turner has always killed his former team.

That continued last night and he smoked an RBI double in the first inning to increase the lead to 2-0. Manaea gave up another run before he finally got out of the inning.

Manaea had been doing a much better job at commanding the zone recently. However, he just did not have any control yesterday. He walked five batters in three innings. He had thrown 85 pitches after three and Carlos Mendoza was forced to take him out of the game.

The bullpen did very well. Huascar Brazobán was the first man out of the bullpen. He came into the game much earlier than he would have expected or Manaea would have wanted. He did great though.

The right hander pitched two perfect innings and struck out three in the process.

Reed Garrett made his return to the major league team last night. He looked like his early season self as he struck out the side in a very dominant inning of work.

The quality bullpen display was all for not as the Mets could not muster anything offensively.

The Mariners bullpen picked up where Gilbert left off and finished out another shutout against the Mets.

The Mets finished the game with four hits. They had no extra base hits and did not have a base runner even get on second base.

New York needs to right the ship very quickly.
