There are a few New York Mets players who currently have injuries. However, they are all working their way toward rejoining the roster.

Third baseman Mark Vientos was a late scratch from the lineup on Sunday. That was due to a sore left ankle, which he originally had injured on Aug. 4 after fouling a ball off and hitting the joint. According to Mets manager Carlos Mendoza, he is day-to-day.

Vientos has been the Mets everyday third baseman and has produced so much power at the plate, so it's good news that his injury isn't serious.

Other Mets injury news comes from the bullpen. Right-hand pitcher Sean Reid-Foley is on his way back from a right shoulder impingement injury, but he still has work to do in the minor leagues before rejoining the Mets roster. The team is being careful with him because of the mixed on-field results he has encountered in the minors. He was supposed to be tested in a multi-inning outing on Aug. 11, but after that game was suspended by rain, he will try again on Aug. 13.

There is also another relief pitcher on his way back. Dedniel Nuñez, who was put on the injured list with a right pronator strain injury, is expected to return in late August. Since his last game on July 23 against the New York Yankees, he made one minor league outing and will do another one on Aug. 13.

The Mets are currently a half game behind the third National League wild-card spot after they got swept on the road by the Seattle Mariners over the weekend. They are off today and will begin a nine-game homestand starting tomorrow night against the Oakland Athletics. If the above-mentioned players return as scheduled, they will serve as positive reinforcements.
