    Jayden Daniels Reveals Rodgers Advice

Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has been as advertised throughout training camp and now through his team's first preseason game.

With the Commanders losing 20-17 to the New York Jets , Daniels got his first start and immediately looked at home as he launched a deep ball to Dyami Brown, who hauled in the 42-yard bomb.

Daniels would then punch it in himself on a three-yard keeper to finish his first NFL drive with his first NFL touchdown. To say it was a good start is an understatement, and Daniels has revealed some wisdom that Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers imparted to him.

“Don't ride the wave obviously he's been in this league, played at the high level for many years,” Daniels said . “Kind of just say you going to have ups and down your rookie year, don't ride the wave and just stay the course, and everything will work out.”

August 10, 2024: Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels celebrates his first touchdown with center Tyler Biadasz in a 20-17 loss to the New York Jets.

Daniels' rookie season will no doubt have a lot of highs and also some lows as he figures out pro football. His first preseason game was no doubt a high, as he finished his day's work completing two of his three passes for 45 yards and a three-yard touchdown run.

But while that was good, Daniels will undoubtedly have some "rookie" moments, as success in the NFL is anything but linear.

As Rodgers stated, it is about staying even-keeled and not getting too high or too low for Daniels, which sounds simple enough, but is easier said than done.

So far, Daniels has been as advertised for the Commanders, and after his first preseason start, confidence is flowing through his veins.

It remains to be seen if he will play any part in Washington's remaining preseason games, and if he doesn't, we have already gotten a glimpse of what he could be in 2024.
