Howard University Elects Its First Transgender Student Body President
A political science major and rising senior, Jay Jones is the newly elected Student Association President for 2024-2025 — and the first transgender woman to hold that role — at historically Black Howard University. She is currently interning for the Chase Bank Leadership Development Program on the Learning, Training, and Reinforcement Team.
Permit Issued For $9.4 Million Addition at Elementary School
A permit has been issued to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) for construction of a $9.4 million addition at Greencastle Elementary School in Silver Spring (Fairland). Per the MCPS Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), projections indicated enrollment at Greencastle Elementary School would exceed capacity by the end of the six-year planning period. A feasibility study was conducted to determine the cost and scope of an addition project. An FY 2023 appropriation was approved to begin the architectural design for an addition project at this school. An FY2024 appropriation was approved for construction funds.

Employers, educators team up to bridge critical tech skills gaps
WASHINGTON — To ease a growing talent crunch, employers are taking a closer look further down the workforce pipeline, starting in schools. Companies like JPMorgan Chase have partnered with educators in efforts to bridge skills gaps. The banking giant joined forces with the Greater Washington Partnership and the Education Strategy Group to support K-12 technology education in November.
