Huskers extend baseball coach Will Bolt through 2029

Nebraska baseball coach Will Bolt has a new deal.

After collecting the Huskers’ first Big Ten Tournament title this spring, Bolt received a new five-year contract, Director of Athletics Troy Dannen announced Tuesday.

Bolt’s new deal runs through 2029 and gives him an annual salary of $500,000.

The Huskers went 40-22 under Bolt in 2024, reaching the 40-win mark for the 19th time in program history but just the first since 2014, when Bolt was the associate head coach for the team.

Additionally, the conference tournament championship was not only Nebraska’s first as a member of the Big Ten but also its first since 2005, when Bolt and assistant Rob Childress were also on staff.

This past season was Bolt’s fifth leading the Huskers. In that time, he’s compiled 137 wins, which already ranks sixth in program history.

Nebraska has also produced four All-Americans and nine MLB draft picks — including six in the top five rounds — since Bolt took over.

And how about this: Bolt has been with the program as a player or coach for eight of the Huskers’ 19 NCAA Tournament appearances. He’ll look to add to that number in the coming years.

“We are pleased to have Will Bolt as the leader of our baseball program well into the future,” Dannen said in a release from the program. “Will has been a big part of the success of Nebraska Baseball over the past two decades, not only as the head coach, but also as an assistant coach and player. Through his past experiences, he knows what it takes to win at Nebraska and has a great vision to continue to elevate our program in the coming years.”

“I would like to thank Athletic Director Troy Dannen and Deputy Athletic Director Dennis Leblanc for their confidence in our leadership and the direction of our program,” Bolt said. “There is a lot of momentum with our program, and I am grateful for the dedication of our coaching staff, the hard work and commitment of our players, and the incredible support of our fan base.”
