Dylan Raiola has injected new excitement into the Nebraska Cornhusker football program as the former five-star quarterback and No. 2 overall player in the 2024 class is anticipated to start the season opener.

Cornhusker fans have only seen Raiola in action once: during Nebraska's spring game. He didn't disappoint, throwing for 239 yards and two touchdowns. Raiola completed 16-of-22 passes and had several impressive plays. This included a 64-yard pass to Jaylen Lloyd, the leading receiver of the day, which put the Red team ahead 14-7 in the second quarter.

Raiola received an endorsement from NFL quarterback Matthew Stafford. When asked on the Pardon My Take podcast who his all-time favorite teammate was, Stafford mentioned Raiola's dad, Dominic, as one of his favorites. He also took the opportunity to praise Raiola, calling him an unbelievably talented quarterback and stud.

"Kid (is a) baller," Stafford said. "I mean unbelievably talented quarterback. He's a stud."

Raiola has strong family ties to the Cornhuskers. His father, a former Nebraska All-American, and his uncle, Donovan Raiola, the current offensive line coach, have connections to the university. Given these ties, it was not surprising that he chose Nebraska. However, it's worth noting that he was previously committed to Georgia and was also being considered by Ohio State and other schools.

The Cornhuskers have not had a player of his caliber at the quarterback position in a while. So, if Raiola can effectively learn the offense, he will have a chance to start, which will only add to the excitement about what he can accomplish as a true freshman this season.
