Entering this season, Kentucky is going to look to mix things up at Quarterback under new Offensive Coordinator Bush Hamdan. The Wildcats welcome in starter, Brock Vandagriff from Georgia, and backup, Gavin Wimsatt from NC State, who is a native of Owensboro, KY. Both of them have a unique set of skills, although we're pretty limited on what we have seen so far from Vandagriff given he did not start at Georgia.

Kentucky will be utilizing both of them, mixing and matching at different points throughout games. So far, that's been a big challenge for Kentucky's defense in practice, and Defensive Coordinator Brad White recently talked about that. "To be able to, this year, have a little bit more mix and balance in terms of everything we get to see in practice, Coach Hamdan does such a great job of mixing styles, and then you have two Quarterbacks that obviously can run the football," White said. "So we get a little bit more practice at that than maybe we did last year."

That has helped the defense prepare for next season, especially since they are getting different looks from the offense. "That's really good for our defense. Anytime you can see a different style and action, and then you couple it with everything they do, it puts a lot of stress on us on a constant basis. It stresses our rules as a defense, and that's the key." Coach Hamdan recently talked about how they are planning to use multiple Quarterbacks, more specifically using Wimsatt in the system. "We think he's one of the best ball-carriers we have as well, so it's on us to be creative, making sure it's a package he can handle, but he can also handle going in and being the full-time Quarterback if needed there, and it's something we're working on."

Kentucky mixing up the looks on offense will certainly help keep defenses on their toes, and they've been doing that in practice.
