The Miami Marlins are on the road as they take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday night. Miami is coming off a 2-5 homestand, although they finished it on a positive note by beating the San Diego Padres on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia is in first place in the National League East division. At one point they had the best record in baseball, but have lost three games in a row over the weekend and are four and six in their last 10 games.
As for pitching matchups, right-hand pitcher Valente Bellozo (1-1, 3.05 ERA) will take the mound for the Marlins. He had a good outing at his last start against the Cincinnati Reds, as he didn’t allow a run on two hits in five and two-thirds innings.
His counterpart will be Phillies right-hander Taijuan Walker (3-3, 5.60 ERA). He will pitch for the first time since June 21 after going on the injured list due to right index finger inflammation. Before the injury, it’s been a struggle for him to go deep in games. He last pitched against the Arizona Diamondbacks when he gave up four runs in four innings.
