Yesterday, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze went viral for saying he should have four career wins against legendary former Alabama head coach Nick Saban. Naturally, Crimson Tide fans bashed Freeze on social media for the take, and he walked it back this morning.

"Every now and then, you say things that come across the wrong way, and you feel crazy for saying something quite like that, so maybe this part will go viral, too. You have to get it done when you have the chances," Freeze said on the Paul Finebaum show.

"Of course last year, should have been able to coach well enough and get out of there [with the win] with the opportunity that we had," Freeze elaborated on last year's Iron Bowl loss.

Auburn held a 24-20 lead late in the fourth quarter against Alabama last year before Jalen Milroe hit Isaiah Bond for a 31-yard touchdown with 32 seconds remaining on 4th and 31.

"That certainly doesn't mean we were better than his squad or than his staff, for sure, because he's arguably the best that's ever done it," Freeze said, praising Saban.

Freeze's attempt to clarify his take on Saban is understandable, but this exchange will only fuel the fire for Alabama fans against their rival.
