Although the NBA offseason has slowed to a crawl here in mid-August, the Dallas Mavericks are happy to have taken care of their biggest objectives with a month and a half remaining until training camp.

Not only did the Mavs make one of the splashiest moves of the summer by pulling off a sign-and-trade for Klay Thompson with the Golden State Warriors, but they also added Spencer Dinwiddie, Naji Marshall, and Quentin Grimes without having to surrender any first-round picks.

After taking an offseason break, our Mavs Step Back Podcast returned on Tuesday to put a bow on top of Dallas' successful offseason. On this episode, we discuss Thompson's fit with the Mavs, officially address the Dinwiddie signing, and talk about Dallas beating out the Los Angeles Lakers for both of those players.

Coming off an NBA Finals appearance, the Mavs have solidified their status as a top championship contender by adding significant offensive firepower while also retaining defensive versatility. Health permitting, Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the revamped Mavs supporting cast should have a great shot at making it back to the biggest stage in basketball for a second consecutive year.

Also on this episode, we jump into some of the Mavs' NBA schedule leaks, as well as recap some of the thrilling basketball we watched during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Stay tuned to Dallas Basketball and our Mavs Step Back Podcast for updates on the Mavericks as they happen. The full NBA schedule is set to be released on Thursday.
