The Miami Marlins played the first game of a two-game road series with their division rival Philadelphia Phillies and shut them out 5-0. This was the game after Miami made lots of front-office moves, including letting go of assistant general manager Oz Ocampo.

It was a well-pitched game for Miami starting pitcher Valente Bellozo, who went seven innings not allowing a run on four hits and one walk, and he struck out four batters. The Phillies offense was just zero for three with runners in scoring position, as they didn't have much to show for against Marlins pitching with six total hits and strikeouts each.

The Marlins offense was successful for the second straight game as they began their scoring in the first inning via RBI singles from Jonah Bride and Otto Lopez. They would then tack on more via home runs by Jake Burger and Jesús Sánchez, and in between they scored one run on an error by Philadelphia catcher J.T. Realmuto. Overall, despite going two for eight with runners in scoring position, they produced eight hits in total and knocked out Phillies starting pitcher Taijaun Walker after the fourth inning.

This Phillies loss puts them at 69-50 and extends their losing streak to four games. They still remain in first place in the National League East division.

Meanwhile, the Marlins have won two games in a row and are now 45-75. They will look to complete the two-game sweep tomorrow night with Edward Cabrera on the mound against Tyler Phillips of the Phillies.
