ESPN Analyst Needs More From Jalen Hurts, Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles may believe that Jalen Hurts is still an elite quarterback, but not everyone is buying that just yet.

Dan Orlovsky, a former NFL quarterback and now one of ESPN's top football analysts isn't exactly saying Hurts is a bad quarterback, but more that he still has much to prove.

On 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia Wednesday, Orlovsky explained his point:

“Right now, Jalen Hurts for me is a little bit more of a question mark than a known commodity," the former Lion said. "What I mean by that is, with a new offensive coordinator, coming off of the season that he had, we don’t know how he is going to transition into this new offense, and exactly who he is as a player."

Hurts has helped lead the Eagles to the playoffs in three straight seasons - his first three as a starting quarterback for the team. Only Donovan McNabb has been able to accomplish that feat in franchise history.

Still, the difference in play from his MVP caliber season in 2022 to compared to 2023 leaves much to be desired for Orlovsky.

"He had one unbelievably dominant season back in 2022 when he played at an MVP level, and then last year – I don’t want to say was the complete opposite of that – but it was a significant opposite of that where he really struggled.”

Hurts will get a chance to show his career-high in turnovers during 2023 was more a fluke than his MVP-caliber year in 2024. As of this moment, though, there's plenty of speculation surrounding Philadelphia's quarterback.
