ESPN's SEC Network is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in 2024. To celebrate, network host Paul Finebaum has revealed his favorite SEC player over the last decade.

Interestingly enough, Finebaum's choice didn't get his start in the conference.

Joe Burrow transferred to LSU from Ohio State ahead of the 2019 season and immediately looked like he had been born and bred in college football's championship culture of the South.

The Tigers had finished 10-3 the year prior, dropping games to Florida, Alabama and Texas A&M. But Ed Orgeron's squad performed much differently with Burrow, that year's Heisman Trophy winner, at the helm of one of the best offense's in recent memory.

“Favorite player had to be Joe Burrow,” Finebaum said . “He came out of nowhere, actually he came out of Ohio State. And he set the SEC on fire in 2019, winning the Heisman, winning the national championship.”

LSU's offense led the country with 568.9 yards per game, 48.4 points per game and also boasted the fourth-best turnover margin rate at 0.8 per game.

Burrow's stats that season were video game numbers. He led the nation in passing yards (5,671), touchdowns (60), adjusted yards per attempt (12.5) and passing efficiency rating (202.0). Oh, and Burrow added another 368 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Burrow went on to become the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL draft to the Cincinnati Bengals. He led Cincinnati to the 2022 Super Bowl in only his third season as a pro.
