Marvin Harrison Jr. Reveals His NFL Idol Growing Up

Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is one of the most prolific playmakers in the 2024 NFL Draft class for a reason.

In three years at Ohio State, Harrison posted 155 receptions for 2,613 yards and 31 touchdowns. He has yet to make his pro debut, but it's already clear how special it will be when the No. 4 overall pick takes the field for the Cardinals.

The team is set to play the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2 of preseason at Lucas Oil Stadium, and Harrison answered a barrage of questions from the media during the joint practice on Wednesday.

One question in particular hilariously raised eyebrows.

"Favorite player? Harrison asked.. My dad?"

The crowd broke out in laughter, and for good reason.

Marvin Harrison Sr. is no stranger to the Colts, or the practice facility. The Hall of Fame receiver spent his entire 13-year career in Indianapolis, and he is one of the most decorated players in franchise history. He's an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, and helped bring the city a Super Bowl in 2007 alongside Peyton Manning.

Hence the reason for the spirited laughter.

Harrison Jr. has openly stated that he doesn't mind the close comparisons to his father. What NFL route-runner would? But he is also three inches taller, and two years younger than Harrison Sr. when he played his first season. That's at least where he already has him beat. He will, however, have to build something of his own in Arizona.

It's unlikely that the Cardinals risk unleashing their cornerstone player until Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills, but he could very well put together a monster rookie campaign in the 2024-25 season.
