Jordan Addison's injury doesn't seem serious after leaving Vikings-Browns joint practice

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison's injury doesn't appear to be as serious as it initially seemed after he left joint practice with the Cleveland Browns early on Wednesday.

Addison was carted away after what the team says was an ankle injury.

Head coach Kevin O'Connell said Addison is unlikely to practice on Thursday but thinks "he's going to be OK."

That's a different tune of news after the Vikings learned rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy is out for the season after he had a successful full repair surgery of his meniscus in his right knee earlier Wednesday morning.

According to reporters at the practice Wednesday , Addison went down with the injury after he leapt up for a contested pass. The second-year wideout then hobbled over to the sidelines with the assistance of trainers and was taken in for further evaluation on a cart.

One reporter said teammates went over to the sidelines to give Addison high fives and pats on the helmet, initially indicating the injury could be serious.

Addison will be a key piece to the Vikings' wide receiver room that drops off in talent after him and Justin Jefferson. The second-year receiver does however still have a potential suspension looming over his head after he was charged with DUI from an incident that happened last month.

It's likely with the injuries happening to the Vikings as of late that the team decides to hold back starters and players from playing the rest of the preseason who will be key to keeping healthy once the season begins.
