The Carolina Panthers have added to their secondary by signing veteran defensive back Rudy Ford, who joined the team following a successful tryout. Ford, who played his college football at Auburn, was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Since then, he has brought his defensive skills to several NFL teams, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Green Bay Packers.

Ford's experience is evident in his 86 career games, where he has amassed 203 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and six interceptions, all of which have been recorded in the past three seasons. His recent productivity in coverage adds a valuable veteran presence to the Panthers' defensive backfield.

In a corresponding move, the Panthers released defensive back Clayton Isbell. Isbell, who initially joined Carolina as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft, had two brief stints with the team, including his latest during training camp. Additionally, the Panthers made another adjustment on defense by releasing defensive end Kemoko Turay from injured reserve, further refining their roster as they get deeper into training camp.

Ford’s addition brings both experience and versatility to the Panthers’ secondary, as they continue to fine-tune their defense.
