Paul Finebaum Reveals Favorite Moment Since Joining SEC Network 10 Years Ago

The Southeastern Conference holds six out of the last 10 national champions in college football. There are plenty of memorable moments to look back on when considering those past champions, but one stands out in the mind of ESPN's Paul Finebaum.
The SEC Network host shared his best SEC moment in the last decade to celebrate the network's 10-year run, naming Alabama's overtime win over Georgia in the 2017 national championship game.
The Bulldogs defeated Auburn in the SEC Championship Game to reach their first College Football Playoff in program history under then second-year head coach Kirby Smart. Despite finishing second in SEC West standings, Alabama squeaked in at No. 4 in the final rankings.
When Georgia pulled off a comeback, overtime win versus Oklahoma in arguably the greatest Rose Bowl game off all-time, it's seemed like it was the year of the Dawg. But the Crimson Tide wouldn't go down easy, though, after making the title game following a dominant win over Clemson.

“I think the best moment had to be one of the biggest moments of all time,” Finebaum said . “It was the walk-off national championship in 2017 in Atlanta. You had Tua to DeVonta Smith. It was simply unbelievable in overtime to win the national championship.”
Georgia held a 13-point lead coming out of the half, but the margin was quickly diminished once Nick Saban made a move at quarterback. True freshman Tua Tagovailoa replaced starter Jalen Hurts and ignited the Crimson Tide offense, ultimately tying the game at 20 by the end of the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs connected on a field goal in the first overtime and pushed Alabama into a pressure-filled situation, second-and-26 with at least a field goal needed to extend the game.
That's when history was made as Tagovailoa connected with wideout DeVonta Smith, the 2020 Heisman Trophy winner, to secure Alabama's national title and start a heated rivalry between Saban and former staffer Smart.
