The Texas A&M Aggies have recruited the defensive line at an elite level for many years now.

With some holdovers from the previous era along with some new additions out of the transfer portal, the Aggie pass rush is expected to be one of the most talented units in the entire country, at least on paper.

One Texas A&M writer is buying what the group, and the potential of Mike Elko and Jay Bateman , are selling. Luke White of the Dallas Morning News wrote in his 'five bold predictions' article surrounding the Aggies that he believes the group will account for at least 30 sacks this season.

"Wide receiver isn’t the only position where the Aggies believe they have serious playmakers. On the other side of the ball, A&M is hoping to be a force in the trenches with an experienced defensive line headlined by junior Purdue transfer Nic Scourton. After leading the Big Ten with 10 sacks last season, he offered fans a preview of what’s to come with 2.5 sacks in the Aggies’ spring game," White wrote . "The talent doesn’t stop there, with the duo of senior Shemar Turner and junior Shemar Stewart poised to make an impact with their athleticism. Turner is hoping to improve his NFL draft stock, while Stewart said he believes he’s on the cusp of achieving a 15-sack season."

If the defensive line is truly as good as White believes it could be, it would go a long way towards helping out a secondary that was leaky at best in 2023 and give the Aggies a chance against every team they line up against in 2024.
