A day after he was waived by the Minnesota Vikings, Jabril Cox cleared waivers and was moved to the injured reserve list on Wednesday.

Cox, a former standout at North Dakota State and LSU, was a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL Draft. He initially joined the Vikings as a free agent last month but got hurt in the team's preseason opener against the Las Vegas Raiders.

He made two tackles before leaving the game on Saturday.

Cox's injury designation is undisclosed as of Wednesday.

The 26-year-old is likely a depth piece for the defensive unit, as the Vikings already have Blake Cashman, Kamu Grugier-Hill and Dallas Gant ahead of Cox on the depth chart.

The Vikings have a second joint practice scheduled with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday.
