The Paris Olympics have concluded, so it is a good time to look ahead to 2028 and the games that will be held in Los Angeles, California.

In a recent article by Sam Quinn of CBS Sports , he picks who he thinks should be on the Team USA basketball roster for the 2028 Olympics. For the point guard position, he thinks the two players should be Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton and New York Knicks captain Jalen Brunson.

"The Brunson-Haliburton combination not only gives Team USA's roster two elite ball-handlers, but quite a bit of stylistic versatility," Quinn writes. "When Team USA wants to run opponents off of the floor, set up 3-pointers and keep everyone involved, Haliburton makes the most sense. When it needs to slow things down and get hard buckets, Brunson is the better fit. We don't even necessarily need to name a starter. The right player can be chosen on a game-to-game basis."

Haliburton did not play much in this year's Olympics due to an unannounced injury that he had, so he could make up for it when 2028 rolls around.

As for Brunson, many felt that he was snubbed from this year's team, and he could prove that he deserved to be chosen this season. He is one of the best point guards in the entire NBA, and could fill in the hole left behind by Stephen Curry, as this could have been his final chance to play in the games.

Haliburton and Brunson were rivals in the playoffs this past season, but a team-up in the Olympics could spell trouble for opposing defenses.
