Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield 'Ran Offense Well' In Joint Practices vs. Jaguars
By Adam Schultz,

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are busy in preparation for their second preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and have held joint practices with Doug Pederson's team.
With many teams across the league now doing this as part of their ramp-up to the regular season, the Buccaneers are no different and want to get that specific work in against another NFL team.
For head coach Todd Bowles, who focused on the offensive side of the ball first, there was a lot to like regarding what Baker Mayfield was doing vs. the Jaguars' defense.
“He had some plays he threw in there, he had some he like to have back,” Bowles said . “Obviously a very good defensive front you're going against right there got to see the tape to be sure, but he ran the offense well.”

So, while there were plenty of good things to come out of the joint practice with the Jaguars, it also revealed where the Buccaneers can improve offensively.
And the one glaring need for improvement was players being more mentally and physically tuned in.
“We had quite a few drops, and that's what I'm talking about getting more reps and being mentally and physically tougher for opening day," Bowles said. "We probably dropped too many that we shouldn't have.”
Luckily, these practices and preseason games are for working on those exact things as Tampa Bay looks to hit the ground running against the Washington Commanders in Week 1.
There are always good and bad things to come out of practices, and for the Buccaneers, it's no different. The hope is that the offense can get things cleaned up quickly in preparation for the regular season.
