Shedeur Sanders Lower Than Expected In ESPN’s Top 100 College Football Players

ESPN has released their official top 100 player rankings for the 2024 college football season and had Shedeur Sanders a bit lower than he'd probably like.

The confident Colorado QB1 is a tough nut when it comes to evaluation. He certainly flashes the highest-end talent, but at the same time, the consistency just isn't quite there yet. To make matters more confusing, his offensive line routinely put him in terrible positions.

So, with 2023 behind us and 2024 ahead, ESPN decided to slot Sanders as the No. 24 overall player in the country.

"Sanders boasted a remarkable 27-to-3 TD-to-INT ratio last season playing behind one of the worst offensive lines in college football," ESPN's blurb on him noted.

That was Sanders' superpower, that he really protected the football and put up plenty of touchdowns despite taking all kinds of sacks and running for dear life on half his dropbacks.

"If his protection is better," ESPN reckons, "Sanders should rank among the national leaders in every statistical category and is widely considered to be in the running for first quarterback selected in the 2025 NFL draft."

ESPN is cautious with their No. 24 overall ranking because of the unpredictable situation in Boulder, but if luck breaks in Shedeur Sanders' direction, he very well could end up much higher ranked on the postseason edition of this list.
