Ohio State Fans Upset Over Major Snub In ESPN Top 100 Players List

Ohio State fans aren't too pleased after their Buckeyes placed zero players within the top 10 of ESPN's ranking of the 100 best players in college football for the 2024 season.

Alongside Georgia, Ohio State is one of the two clear top dogs in 2024, which their No. 2 preseason AP ranking suggests. Of course, a main reason for that narrative is their loaded roster, which returns plenty of talent but also added some star power, guys who even made the top 100 list.

However, it's the placement of one of those newcomers that has Buckeye fans up in arms. When the top 10 rankings were revealed, the absence of rising sophomore safety and Alabama import Caleb Downs caused an uproar.

In the replies to the tweet with that graphic, OSU fans were stunned not to see Downs in the top 10. Instead, he just missed the cut at 11th.

"No Caleb Downs," tweeted an account named Official Ohio State DG. "The list is invalid."

"No Caleb Downs is insane," commented @ZGtheGrapevine.

"Where’s Ohio State?," asked Bo.

"Not having Caleb Downs on this list is truly insane," declared one user named tough guy.

"Caleb Downs might be the best player in CFB," suggested JD

"Downs not being on here is kinda crazy," said an account named ok.

Downs turned in a phenomenal true freshman season in Tuscaloosa, which had the diehard tape-grinders drooling over his potential. Ahead of year two, ESPN cautiously ranked him just outside the top 10, but it sounds like Buckeye fans expect him to show why he'll open the year top-five in 2025.
